Yes.  That reverted patch was there precisely to get rid of those warnings.

I still don't understand how introducing verbatim copies of the leafView/levelView methods
and using those instead of the old ones can lead to such severe problems, but I don't
care much whether the deprecation is in 2.3 or later, either.
