From simon.praetorius at tu-dresden.de Fri Aug 22 09:54:11 2025 From: simon.praetorius at tu-dresden.de (Simon Praetorius) Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2025 09:54:11 +0200 Subject: [Dune-devel] Frontpage for non-kogged in users in gitlab Message-ID: Hit everyone, some time ago, we discussed that the frontpage of our gitlab server always redirects to the sign-in/up page instead of showing the list of, e.g., core modules to get started with. Often people think they need to login to access the repositories, e.g., we have about 150 pending approvals of user accounts in our gitlab. Not all reach out to the gitlab-admin to tell us that they actually need a login. I don't know what is happening with the rest. Maybe they leave the dune-project frustrated due to a not working login? An alternative would be a different default homepage and sign-out page, e.g., we could open gitlab.dune-project.org/core, or gitlab.dune-project.org/explore as the hompage and then you need to click on the user icon to sign-in or register. Would you be fine with such a change in the gitlab settings? This would defeinitely improve user experience. core would be ok, but a dedicated landing page would be even better.
