I don't see how the ".gitignore"-files hurt and I believe they are a benefit
for anyone using git-svn.  I discussed this with Christian: this seems to be a
matter of taste and we simply seem to have different opinions about it.  Since
it doesn't matter that much to me I'm going to remove those files and keep
them locally, unless someone else really wants them.
