Details - This probably applies to all modules:

When using the beta tarballs doing a make clean deletes all
distributed html files under doc except the doxygen documentation.

As this would make wml madatory to build from the distribution
tarballs I propose to fix this by distributing a different Makefile
 whithout "CLEANFILES=${PAGES}$
