I think this is total overkill.  95% of the work needed to
maintain an FAQ is formulating and typing the answer.
And an faq-o-matic doesn't help you with that at all.
Even worse, you get an extra piece of infrastructure
that needs to be maintained.

My proposal: next time you answer something on the
mailing list think for a second whether what you're
writing is worth adding it to the FAQ, and if yes simply
copy & paste it there.
