This problem is due to the new EntityPointer(Entity&) constructor. I see two solutions:

a) the big one: proper use of traits classes will allow full access to all types associated with a grid within all facedes.
b) the small one: adding the typedef for the implementations to the GridFamily::Traits allows a working friend declaration.

I implemented version b. Could you please test the attached patch?
