Hi,
currently the ALU-Hack only provides the static->dynamic transition
using the same numbering. If it's a definite decision that the old
methods are deprecated and are guaranteed to keep using the same
numbering, then the old->new translation could also be incorporated in the hack.
(The only remaining objection seems to be Peters wish to keep the old methods.)

Before doing this it would be nice if the maintainers of ALUGrid, YaspGrid,
and SGrid could comment on whether it is possible to directly get the
indices and ids in a dynamic way.

If this is not the case (in at least one of them) the the above approach
would not be hack a hack but a proper solution worth beeing adapted.
However, if this is possible it would be nice if the maintainer implement
this soon to allow for the transition.
(We want to use the new style methods now in Berlin.)
