It is related to this discussion but in my opinion independent on the decision there. Both, the virtual and the non-virtual base class are also very usefull in other applications and should essentially provide a common interface to allow interoperability.

Of coarse the interface of either the virtual or non-virtual form or of both should be used by the interpolate methods in dune-localfunctions. But this does not add any dependency of this task on the virtual/non-virtual discusssion.

If there is a further dependency it would be nice if you could explain this.
