Sorry, in the layout of the test case I confused the dimension of an entity with it's codimension, so VertexLayout actually maps cells. This means that vertices are obviouly not mapped by the mapper and the result is undefined.

Since this is not the first time that this happened to me, I would like to propose to throw an exception in the map() method if the index of an unmapped entity is queried. At least in debug mode this would be helpful, IMHO.
