[Dune] [#654] Accessing element and vetrex parameters are too slow

Dear Dune, I would welcome any discussion on reading large (tet) grids from files.
In fact, we are confronted with reading macro grids that have hundreds of thousands,
probably even millions of tets. Therefore, efficient read routines are essential.
Also, since I can not attend the developer meeting on Nov. 23, I would like
to ask that related materials, such as boundary element insertion, e.g. for the
ALUgrid factory is discussed. I think there are open questions re. semantics.
As we wee it, Dune has moved to a level where it is used for
challenging real world problems by demanding users, also meaning very large meshes,
and I think it would be a very good thing to make sure this is also the case for grid
input (in our case mostly tetrahedra).
We are very happy to provide more information on our concrete needs
if you think it necessary and fruitful for the discussion.
Have a great day! Benedikt

FS#654 - Accessing element and vetrex parameters are too slow

----------
I can not remember any such decision and I think it is quite hard to handle for a grid manager - so yes we have to discuss it.
