This is indeed very close to what we were about to propose. In our proposal, alternative 1, these geometries
(and Entities and Intersections) would not even implement type(). I think that may be cleaner, and require less
effort. The presence or absence of an API (local(), global() etc.) cannot be indicated at run-time, it must be
done at compile-time, so the capabilities system is the right way to expose this.

Our alternative 2 is more similar to Andreas' suggestion in the we keep a reference element, we suggest a
'singular' type which actually expects (simple) implementations of the full API (such as a global() function that
just returns centroids). This is partially how the class CpGrid of dune-cornerpoint is implemented now.
