The issue really seems to be resolved. On my current setup (dune-grid rev 5292) the test file now produces the following timing:
Refine cycle 5:
marking: 0.532033
preAdapt(): 0
ALUGrid; refine time: 15.681
ALUGrid; coarse time: 0.836053
ALUGrid; updateStatus time: 0.612038
adapt() 434779 -> 1665515: 17.1291
postAdapt(): 0.64004
Coarsen cycle 0:
marking: 1.10007
preAdapt(): 0
ALUGrid; refine time: 2.47215
ALUGrid; coarse time: 2.86418
ALUGrid; updateStatus time: 0.16001
adapt() 1665515 -> 436699: 5.49634
postAdapt(): 0.16401
Mark the coarse time in the coarsen cycle of 2.9sec as opposed to more than 888sec previously.
