Sorry, I did not know about that renaming scheme. But as far as I can see, the "mpiname" script is a MVAPICH2 peculiarity,
it doesn't show up in the docs for MVAPICH1, MPICH(2) or LAM. It also doesn't exist on my Laptop, which has OpenMPI installed.

But if a package manager used the autotools renaming facility to append the package name to all binaries, that would still leave us
with a script called mpiname.mvapich2 or something...
