The official solution to this is that the preprocessor variable HX_HAS_STDIOSTREAM has to be set when including libamiramesh headers. The attached patch changes the m4 test accordingly.  I never ran into this because I patched my own libamiramesh a looong time ago and then apparently forgot about it.  With the patch I still get a strange compiler error in the amiramesh test. I'll have a look at that tomorrow.
