Indeed I did not implement my suggestion (besides the example) because I was a little afraid of the GenericGeometry internals. If I find the time I'll try to do this soon since I still think that it's the simpler solution. But I doubt that this will happen before the meeting.

@Martin: What does your last last comment b) mean? The static memory pool is essential if you want to use the allocator with std containers (see clause 20.1.5/4). Furthermore it is needed by my suggenstion.
