FS#834 - Edge orientation in reference element/cell

The embedding of a face into the element cannot generally agree with the corresponding embedding in the reference element, because the face is a separate entity in the grid. That is agreed upon, but the original question is about intersections anyways.

The embedding of an intersection into the element cannot generally agree with the embedding of the corresponding face into the reference element, because the intersection may be nonconforming. It could agree if all intersections were conforming. Note that twists are not a problem---that is precisely why there are *two* methods geometryInInside and geometryInOutside.

So it appears to me that the method global() of the GenericReferenceElement doesn't have anything to do with actual grids. What is its use, then?
