Read my code examples again.  Even with the current interface of dune-grid,
you only need one template parameter, and it can be either the type of the
grid or the type of the reader.

The point is that while I welcome the suggestion of exporting the type of the
grid, it may take some time to get this into dune and you probably don't want
to wait for it.
