Details - Apparently the official alglib tarballs don't work with dune. The m4 file states, that the user should obtain a modified version from dedner|nolte at mathematik.uni-freiburg.de

alglib if GPL code. For different reason I think this modified version should be available on our web site.
* alglib is open source and open source lives from community contribution
* it helps the dune user because he can immediately start, 
  instead of have to ask for a private copy.

I would also be interested, which modifications were necessary. Perhaps they are fixed upstream by now?! If not, Andreas and Martin might perhaps comment on the reasons for the rejection. If more users ask for specific features, sometimes the upstream authors might change their mind ;-)
