ii) I can't say much about the amount of work needed for this because I'm neither familiar with the linear algebra needed nor have I had a deeper look into code from ALGLIB.

iv) Seems to be an annoying job to follow interface changes. I don't know how much work this would be. But I know SuperLU and they change types and name within one version. For 4.3 I diffed several files to spot the changes - ridiculous.
