argv[0] is quite unpredictable.  A short usage message that mostly consists of the path where the program resides is hard to read.

And the problem is not only programName, but also the typedef Grid, and that you can't do without in any case.  Plus, the header file consists solely of the main function, which clashes with the "make headercheck"-provided main function.
