The following task has a new comment added:

FS#1000 - Migrate build system from autotools to CMake
User who did this - Christoph GrĂ¼ninger (gruenich)

----------
I am a Linux user and I wrote in the wiki (cf. the link above) what motivates me to invest in CMake support.

I am not yet thinking about a replacement for dunecontrol. My plan is:
1) Write a super-simple CMake buildsystem for only dune-common which uses only the absolutely necessary tests, without dunecontrol or useable results for other modules. Still it will provide the first glimpse on CMake and dune. (I want to do it until end of April)
2) Extend buildsystem from 1) to cooperate with a modified dunecontrol, provide/use some basic tests and show inter-module cooperation by supporting dune-geometry and dune-istl. This prototype should convince enough developers and users to gain more momentum. (I want to do it until June or July)
3) Include as many features and bugfixes as necessary to get CMake accepted and included dune as experimental. (unclear when and whether at all)
