Of course you're right Sven. I just missed the fact, that the Reference class just needs a pointer that could be forward declared. Even if this would not be the case, that would be a classicle PIMPL use case.

Regarding the conversions: It should be OK to have the spezializations in the header, if their method definition (using the Python API) are moved to the lib. The only addiontional wrappers would be the one for the tuple creation. But that should be simple even if tuple creation is a little delicate.
