Revisions 8088-8091 implement returning AlbertaGrid's global geometries as objects (in my personal development branch). I leave it to the release managers to merge them as appropriate.

Their local counterparts, however, are cached (i.e., they are computed once for each grid) and, hence, my previous comment also applies to AlbertaGrid. I'll wait for a decision (i.e., a formal vote) before proceeding. Notice that the cached geometries share the lifetime of the grid, so that the lifetime guarantees are ok. We're discussing only an unnecessary deprecation warning, here.
