I think the problem is that since rev. 6759 you assume dune-common.pc to be located under $prefix/lib/<arch-triplet>/pkgconfig. But when using make install it is locate in $prefix/lib/pkgconfig.

Therefore now we detect debian packages but those installed using make install.
