[Dune] boundarySegmentIndex

Hi duners,
could anyone explain me what happens asking every intersection for 
boundarySegmentIndex after a refinement, please?
I cannot figure out. I expected a son answer with the 
boundarySegmentIndex of the father on the macro grid. Am I wrong?
