Dear Dune community,

we plan the hopefully interesting workshop announced below. While we have originally targeted the DuMux audience, we have a few spaces left and would be happy to extend the invitation to participate to all Dune users. Please register until July 10!

In the context of the DFG-funded project "Sustainable infrastructure for the improved usability and archivability of research software on the example of the porous-media-simulator DuMux", we're happy to announce the

SusI Workshop "Make your Dune/DuMux paper reproducible"
28-30 September 2022
Hotel-Restaurant Schwanen, Köngen

While we will certainly illustrate and celebrate the success of our project, we would like to make this a workshop in a literal sense. You should bring one of your papers with you that uses Dune/DuMux for performing simulations, including code, input and result data. Our goal for the workshop would be to make that paper reproducible. In particular, together with you, we would like to

  1. Write result-reproducing scripts
  2. Generate Docker files and images
  3. Upload everything to the institutional data repository DaRUS
  4. Write web-apps that define, execute and visualize selected simulations
  5. Advertise and link from the DuMux website

Apart from working towards the noble goal of increasing the reproducibility of scientific results, we see the explicit benefits that you will generate something that you (and we) can show off to your peers, use as a blueprint for future publications, describe in funding applications and possibly much more.

Interested? Please register at https://www.iws.uni-stuttgart.de/en/lh2/research/projects/susi/ before 10 July.

We will cover the costs for workshop attendance, food and accommodation. We would encourage you to pay for travel yourself. Nevertheless, we might also be able to cover your travel expenses for reasonably priced travel within Europe. Please let us know in the "Comments" section of the registration if you would like to receive a travel allowance.

Please note that our funding possibilities and space at the venue are limited. In case that the number of registrations exceeds our capabilities, we can't admit everyone. We will let you know in the week 11-15 July if we can welcome you to the workshop.

We're looking forward to your participation!

Please feel free to pass on this announcement to possibly interested parties who are not on this mailing list.

Kind regards
Bernd Flemisch
