I missed Uli mail, so forget my last comments.
There are two lines missing in the Makefile.am in the alugrid root
directory:
pkgconfigdir = $(libdir)/pkgconfig
pkgconfig_DATA = alugrid.pc
I will see about a new alugrid version (could take until next week)
