I'm sorry, but there was a DECISION that gcc-4.4 with -fstrict-aliasing is not supported. The argument was that gcc-4.4 would still be too cutting edge. It was also decided to put it on the list a frequently asked questions.

We cannot afford to rediscuss such a thing after such a decision. If you want to use gcc-4.4, use the trunk or wait for the next release.

If test-onedgrid does not work with a supported compiler (e.g., gcc-4.3), then this is a bug and should be fixed.
