[Dune] Dune User Wiki

Dear Dune users and developers,

on the 2010 Dune user meeting in Stuttgart, there was an open discussion
about what users like and what users do not like about Dune. One of the
dislikes was the missing possibility to easily contribute to Dune in the
sense of putting your name on a Dune user list and, putting images and
project descriptions on a homepage and having a place for general
discussion (the emphasis lies on "easy", since it is considered a high
inhibition threshold by many users to send a patch to one of the
dune-project.org homepage administrators, no offense meant here).

So, during the user meeting we came up with the Dune user wiki, which
can be found under

http://dune-project.uni-muenster.de

The Dune user wiki is a project based homepage (going far beyond a wiki,
see below for a list of features) that is intended to serve as a place
for a wiki, where any Dune user can contribute (and not only those, who
have commit access to the svn servers, again no offense meant). It is an
open site in the sense, that everything, that is labeled public, can be
seen by anybody, but you have to register in order to contribute and
make changes. We already have a main wiki

http://dune-project.uni-muenster.de/wiki/projects/main-wiki/wiki

with some contributions (including pictures and videos, that could be
put on the official gallery homepage by the site administrators) and a
list of people and work-groups that are using dune (which, again, could
be put on the official homepage at some point)

http://dune-project.uni-muenster.de/wiki/projects/people/wiki

You can also find a project for the 2010 Dune user meeting with a
program and the corresponding talks

http://dune-project.uni-muenster.de/wiki/projects/user-meeting-2010

I would welcome you very much to register and contribute (i.e. just by
putting your name on the contributers list)! Please also consider to put
this in the news section of the official homepage and/or to link to this
wiki on the official homepage or your groups Dune site.

Greetings from Münster,

Felix Albrecht

===============================
Features of the Dune user wiki:

* each project can have a wiki
* each project can have a repository (including anonymous http-based
clone feature, if the project is public)
* each project can have an arbitrary number of doodle-like polls
* each project can have an arbitrary number of boards/forums for
discussion
* each project can have multiple issue trackers (bug, feature request,
todo)
* registered users can add new (private or public) projects with their
own wiki and repository
* ability to include new features by adding plugins (the site is based
on redmine.org)
