You did not get me. Blocklevel 0 in most cases is not the field but e.g. the fieldmatrix. Only for FieldMatrix<T,1,1> this coincides. Your approach would mean that we always invert at the scalar level of our solver and thus loose all the performance gains for systems (by inverting the field matrix).
Sorry adding Field would either break the ISTL block concept or would not give us any advantage!
b) The you have to provide your own test. Sounds like a lot of work!
Just out of curiosity what are the application where you guys want to nest static sized matrices inside each other?
