Would setting the block level of Field to -1 solve this problem?

Applications with nested static matrices: for example, DG methods on single-element grids for
continuum mechanics applications.  Each dof is a 3-vector, which leads to one level of nesting.
Then you also want to keep all dofs from one element together, which induces a second level.
