I'd like to have a mature logging mechanism.
Have you though about using an external lib? Are there any reasons to not consider Boost::Log (to be included in Boost in the next months), google glog, EzLogger, or any other C++ logging library? Including a Dune specific logging mechanism seems a bit of NIH.
