The problem here is that, if stamp-vc is not present, duncontrol will skip the autogen parts, esp. the call to aclocal. Manual calls to aclocal require a -I flag for each DUNE module on which module in the tarball depends on. since it is rather impractical to manually specify these flags, I would suggest that dunecontrol does not skip the autogen steps even if stamp-vc is not present. Instead the autogen step should only be skipped (with a warning) if the autotools are not installed on the system. The attached patch implements this. Please note, that this patch is against the newest trunk version of dune-common but I would really like to see it included into the 2.1 release as well.
