@Oli: This is exactly the point: In this case, the geometry of a codim 1 entity currently depends on the way the entity is constructed. This is prescribed by the test and all grids implementing higher codimensions conform to this requirement (obviously).

The requirement that the geometry of an entity should be uniquely determined (and not only up to a twist), would be an interface change.

Let me ask more precisely: After this change, what consistencies will the interface require exactly?
