Hello Christian,

I agree, the efforts needed is a critical factor, and that is best answered by Markus and Christoph. But please also keep in mind the needs of the broader community. My comments are not adverts (although my choice of words is admittedly sometimes on the more enthusiastic side), I can assure you that we feel the pain. A custom build system may be even more troublesome for those who are not core developers, and hence do not have the time nor resources to get familiar with it.

We will test out the cmake port from our end this summer, and I will make sure to also test out the more advanced integration in KDevelop. Syntax highlighting and indentation (which is the support I see for Emacs and VIM) should work as advertised of course.
