I think the set of possible variants of test is just too big to provide them all. On the other hand, I think it is quite acceptable to let programmers write the test as a C++ expression in the bool argument of the assert macro. And I don't believe the possibility for error is significantly larger.
In the case of FieldVectors it would be nice to have a function to compute the distance of two fieldvectors so you can check that it is below a certain limit, but that is an orthogonal matter and would be useful in other circumstances too. (Such a function allows to write a compact expression without the need to explicitly define a temporary).
