@Christoph: Using python 3 would surely be nice. However, it's still not widely use. Many distros still have python 2.x as default, many large python projects are not ported yet, and the library is still not complete. Furthermore even the python devs don't see it as a full replacement yet: On the official web side you can find a discussion when to use 2.7 or 3.x. And if you go to the 'current docs' page you get the docs of 2.7 and not 3.2.

But perhaps non of this is a show stopper. And getting rid of '-fno-strict-aliasing' would be nice.
