I think Robert would ask this question anyway... what about HPC-Systems... how uptodate is python there?

I agree, we don't actually want to carry old stuff with us, but then we should aswell skip the support for old compilers etc. This is something we can't do as long as we want to run Dune on systems like Jugene (and we want to do this!).
