PS: I'd still like to see this feature in dune-common and it is something isolated, not changing the stability of the remaining code.
I agree with Martin, we should try to compile this as a seperate library and thus keep the -no-strict-aliasing flag local. How does no-strict-aliasing translate for other compilers, clang, icc, etc.?
