I would only agree to include python bindings in dune, if they can be disabled by a configure switch and if disabled is the default. 

Running gentoo, I just want to state that one has to keep several python versions around to satisfy all dependencies. So probably it is not a good idea to introduce this dependency in dune-common. This doesn't means that there can be a small dune-python module that provides these features.
