[Dune] installation fails - version mismatch dune-grid >= 2.5 required

Dear all,
newbie question - I am trying to install DUNE according to the
information on the website
https://www.dune-project.org/doc/beginners-resources-pdelab/
, on a fresh ubuntu 16.04.1 installation in a virtual machine (some
information on the setup below). [I want to use Navier Stokes, which is
not included in the summerschool 2018 virtual machine]
After installing some missing bits and pieces (autoconf, automake,
libtool, byacc, flex) I think that I am getting pretty far, until I hit:
"ERROR: version mismatch.
dune-alugrid requires dune-grid >= 2.5,
but only dune-grid = 2.4.2 is available.
Execution of dunecontrol terminated due to errors!"
The file ./buildmodules.sh in my-dune-dir is missing, so I cannot
proceed from here, even if I thought that I could dispense of
dune-alugrid and that the rest was in place.
I tried to outcomment the respective dune-alugrid bits in the
installer.sh both in the folders pdelab-2.4.1 and pdelab-2.5.1 within
the folder dune-installer, thinking that dune-grid MIGHT be sufficient
for me (?), but then I am asked user name and password for the git which
should not be required at this point? I tried email address and password
for my access to the dune-website gitlab, but that's of course a
different thing - the error message then says:
...
--- dune-istl done ---
--- done ---
+ checkout_dune_pdelab
+ for i in typetree pdelab
+ git clone https://gitlab.dune-project.org/pdelab/dune-typetree.git
Cloning into 'dune-typetree'...
Username for 'https://gitlab.dune-project.org': susanne_i_schmidt at yahoo.de
Password for 'https://susanne_i_schmidt@yahoo.de@gitlab.dune-project.org':
remote: The project you were looking for could not be found.
fatal: repository
'https://gitlab.dune-project.org/pdelab/dune-typetree.git/' not found
So is this because my credentials do not extend as far as the actual
dune-project, or what is going on?
And where exactly does this version check happen, i.e. could I
circumvent it? Will a Dune installation work with the available
dune-grid at all, so would it be sufficient to just switch off the
version check at this particular point? Or should I change dunecontrol?
But where do I find it?
Best regards and thanks,
Susanne
