If you simply copy the old code to new file( e.g., "genericreferenceelements.hh"), include this file from referenceelements.hh, and simply replace GenericReferenceElement by ReferenceElement, I can simply adapt my patched file by redoing the replace (and adding the include).

However, I was under the impression that we don't want any bigger changes to the code anymore. While this is not an issue with the reference element itself, we have to adapt all code in dune-grid, too (otherwise we cause deprecation warings). Would this still be safe enough for the release managers?
