@Christian: Neither do I. But in order to replace the template magic I need a starting point and I would prefer to base the reimplementation on the patch. If I understood Oli correctly, he (i.e., the release manager) thinks the trunk should not be used for development, yet. So, I will do all this in a separate branch. This discussion already slowed down progress far too much.
